Outline provides ‘outstanding’ vocal clarity for Tom Jones in Oman

An Outline Butterfly system was deployed for a Tom Jones concert at Shangri-La’s Barr al Jissah Resort & Spa in Muscat, Oman – part of the star’s world tour.

The show took place at the resort’s amphitheatre, and was attended by over 3,000 people.

Audio equipment was supplied by Muscat-based Talentz Centre, the largest production operation in Oman, which handles large-scale events them all over the region, including the UAE. The firm has invested heavily in Outline Butterfly systems, as managing director Baltazar Fernandes sees the products’ consistency, quality and flexibility as key factors in his company’s ability to cater for the big-name international acts coming through, according to Talentz Centre.

A compact Outline Butterfly set-up was chosen, made up of twelve cabinets per-side flown as the main L&R system, as well as four Outline Mantas enclosures per-side as down-fills. A further sixteen Outline Subtech 218 subs provided low frequency reinforcement, and the whole system was powered by the manufacturer’s T-Series amplifiers.

Front-and-house engineer and producer Matteo Cifelli, who has also worked with Mike & The Mechanics, Blue and Il Divo, said: “Outline has always been my first choice when it comes to PA. After years, and hundreds of shows doing FOH for Sir Tom Jones, I have used every kind of PA around the world. The difference in quality I experience when putting my mixes through a Butterfly or a GTO system is astonishing.

"All the details that you miss with other systems are present: the vocal clarity is outstanding and the overall results are so good that the audience, promoter, manager and artist all have big smiles on their faces. They can all hear the difference, it’s obvious.”
