PRO SOUND AWARDS: SSR “thrilled” with former student’s nomination

SSR audio engineering tutor Martin Desai has spoken of his delight at seeing former student Mark Winterburn become a Pro Sound Awards finalist.

Winterburn is a contender for the ‘Studio Engineer of the Year’ Award.

Graduating from the SSR (School of Sound Recording) Audio Engineering techniques & Technology course in 2011, Winterburn has gone on to become a key part of the team at John Delf‘s Edge Recording Studios, where he has been required to work with a number of big-name artists, including Plan B.

“I am absolutely thrilled Mark has been nominated for this award," Desai said. "It is a great recognition of the skills he developed during his time at both SSR and Edge Recording Studios, and as his former tutor I am very proud he has been recognised in this way. Good luck Mark!”

Winterburn added: "I’m really excited to have been shortlisted for this award. It’s great to be working with all the high quality artists that come to Edge so early in my career."

The engineer/producer, who is also one of Audio Pro International‘s Rising Stars, is up against Abbey Road’s Simon Rhodes, Alalal (Al O’ Connell) and Toby Alington in the category.
