RME Fireface UFX+ now available in the UK

UK distributor Synthax Audio has revealed that the new flagship audio interface from RME, Fireface UFX+, is now shipping after receiving its official debut at Prolight + Sound earlier this year.

Designed to be a central hub for modern recording studios and audio installations, the Fireface UFX+ offers ‘considerably more muscle’ than its older sibling, the Fireface UFX, which was launched in 2010.

Notably, the Fireface UFX+ is the first of the Fireface range to employ RME’s MADI technology, which along with the analogue, ADAT, AES and S/PDIF I/O, gives the Fireface UFX+ a total of 188 channels. This is reflected in the direct to USB onboard recording software "DURec", which allows users to record up to 76 channels to an external USB hard drive or memory stick, including the full 64-channel MADI stream.

The Fireface UFX+ features newly designed microphone preamps which provide 75 dB of usable gain, and is also the first RME interface to offer Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 connectivity.

The Fireface UFX+ also includes RME’s Totalmix FX software, RME’s DSP-based mixer that allows for fully independent routing and mixing of all input and playback channels to all physical outputs. Every channel features latency-free EQ and Dynamics sections, plus Reverb/Delay sends for applying effects when monitoring. Independent stereo submixes can be created and routed to any output, providing what the company describes as unrivalled monitoring capabilities and routing flexibility from an audio interface of this class.

Synthax says it is able to offer a five-year warranty on all RME interfaces when purchased from an authorised UK dealer.
