Shure Distribution partners with Royal Academy of Dramatic Art

Shure Distribution UK (SDUK) has announced a partnership with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in a bid to help support future theatre technicians.

The coming together of the two organisations is aimed at ensuring that the technical training offered on RADA’s courses incorporates the latest in industry-standard theatre technology, providing prospective technicians graduating from RADA the best possible start in their careers, whilst also allowing both partners to further their commitment to sharing and furthering specialist knowledge and expertise.

SDUK will aim to support RADA with equipment for its live and studio productions, as well as for its theatrical sound design and location recording courses. These include Shure shotgun, dynamic and wireless microphone systems, and Sound Devices recorders for field use. Shure Applications engineers will also play a central role in creating and delivering tuition for the students on RADA’s Specialist Sound and Technical Theatre and Stage Management (TTSM) courses, including key modules and hands-on training on wireless microphone use and RF spectrum management.

“Students are the future lifeblood of the audio and live production industries worldwide, and we are privileged to have the opportunity to work closely with an organisation of RADA’s reputation," explained Peter James, managing director at SDUK. "This partnership gives RADA students the opportunity to train with some of the world’s finest microphone technology and location sound equipment whilst also benefitting from Shure’s technical expertise and knowledge. Shure and Sound Devices have released a breadth of new products and cutting edge technology in recent years which certainly captured the attention of RADA. We’re honoured to have been selected by RADA and look forward to a long and successful relationship.”

"We are delighted to be embarking on this exciting new partnership with SDUK," added Chris Mock, Head of Sound at RADA. "It will be extremely valuable for our technical students to have first hand practical experience in using some of the leading technology in the sound industry. At RADA we are proud to offer our students the highest level of training to best equip them for when they graduate and begin their professional career. This venture will contribute highly to the students’ learning and development."
