Soulsound and D.A.S. Audio partner up for new seminar series

Soulsound is teaming up with D.A.S. Audio to deliver a four-day seminar programme that will explore ‘Calibration & Design Techniques for Modern Sound Systems’.

The programme, which is aimed at intermediate and experienced sound engineers, will be held at The Crypt, Christchurch Spitalfields, London.

D.A.S. Audio and its UK distributor, Vortice AV, are endorsing the seminars which will be delivered by sound consultant Merlijn van Veen.

The seminar is intended to remove the ‘magic’ surrounding sound systems, providing participants with the insight necessary to create predictable sound system designs, regardless of brand and type of speaker, and then verify the results using the dual channel FFT analyser.

Van Veen will investigate the complete transmission path from source to receiver in the acoustical, electrical and psycho-acoustical domains. “After completion of the seminar programme, sound engineers will be able to provide themselves with the same reference over and over again, like a painter who begins each painting with a blank canvas,” he explained. “The system engineers will be able to design a system that delivers the mixing position sound to the entire audience.”

Soulsound founder Darryn de la Soul added: “We presented this seminar in London last year and it was a huge success. It was great to see lightbulbs switching on in people’s heads and misconceptions being replaced with demonstrable fact.”

The ‘Calibration & Design Techniques for Modern Sound Systems’ seminars take place 20-23 February 2017, between 9am and 6pm each day. The cost for Soulsound members is £375 and for non-members it is £450. Members should email darryn@souslound.co.uk for their discount code, while tickets are on sale here.
