Universal Audio reveal UAD-2 hardware and bundles

Universal Audio, manufacturer of professional audio recording hardware and software, has announced a revamp of its UAD Powered Plug-Ins platform.

Highlight the line up is the new UAD-2 OCTO DSP Accelerator card ($1,499), a powerful device that features eight SHARC processors and easily installs into a Mac, PC or compatible expansion equipped with a PCle slot.

As well as providing double the processing power of the UAD-2 QUAD DSP, the OCTO DSP is able to cope with high UAD plug-in instances and sample rates.

Alongside the new card are two UAD-2 bundles, the custom and the ultimate bundles.

The UAD-2 custom bundle allows users to choose three individual UAD plug-ins within the first 45 days of their UAD-2 hardware registration from a plug-in library containing the likes of the Ampex, Manley and the Lexicon.

The ultimate bundles unites the UAD-2 DSP Accelerator hardware with either the new UAD-2 OCTO in a PCle card format or the UAD-2 Satellite Quad in its FireWire format.

Both the OCTO and the QUAD ultimate packages provide consumers with libraries containing more than 55 UA-developed plug-ins, up to and including v6.3.

The company is also hoping to bring in new consumers with more affordable pricing across its core models of UAD-2 SOLO, DUO and QUAD PCle hardware as well as the DUO and QUAD Satellite FireWire hardware.

These core models include the Analog Classics plug-in bundle which incorporates the likes of the LAS-2A Classic Audio Leveler and the RealVerb Pro plug-ins.

“We’re excited by the additional power and flexibility that this new UAD-2 lineup provides,” says Universal Audio CEO and Founder, Bill Putnam, Jr.

“With our new aggressive pricing for SOLO, DUO, and QUAD Core models, UAD-2 is now even more accessible to producers who want to add authentic analog tone in their recordings.”
