Audio installation wins the Turner Prize

Susan Philipsz has won this year’s Turner Prize for her sound installation at the Tate Britian museum. Her exhibition consisted of the artist broadcasting three versions of the Scottish folksong, Lowlands Away, over two PA speakers.

Having song the songs herself, Philipsz is the first person in the history of the award to win by presenting something that you cannot physically see or touch.
