L-Acoustics founder to receive Outstanding Contribution award at 2018 Pro Sound Awards

AMI sister title PSNEurope has announced that L-Acoustics founder and president Christian Heil will receive the Outstanding Contribution award at the 2018 Pro Sound Awards, which takes place at London’s Steel Yard on November 22.

Since founding the French loudspeaker giant back in 1984, Heil has consistently pushed the boundaries of sound reinforcement. His pioneering work in the field of line array design set new standards in the world of live and integrated sound, while the company’s ground-breaking work in the field of immersive audio with its L-ISA system has opened up new audio dimensions in events and installations across the globe.

The recent BBC Proms concert series saw the L-Acoustics and L-ISA system deployed at the Royal Albert Hall hailed as a roaring success by Delta’s Stephen Hughes, while alt-J recently became the first rock band to utilise an L-ISA system at Forest Hills Stadium.

Speaking to PSNEurope, Heil commented: “I’m deeply touched and honoured by this recognition. This award is shared with many, including the exceptional musicians and performers who have captivated and inspired me, sparking the desire to develop pragmatic solutions to serve the live sound industry. Above all, this award acknowledges the talent and unwavering dedication to excellence of the incredible L-Acoustics team who continue to break new ground in defining the industry state of the art. I’m grateful for their unrelenting drive, our spirited and productive collaboration, and for the opportunity to combine profession and passion on a daily basis.”
