L-Acoustics KARAi systems installed in Norwegian cultural house

The KARAi line source system from L-Acoustics was recently acquired by Sandnes Kulturhus, a cultural venue in western Norway.

The system is made up of 24 KARAi, eight SB18i and four 8XTi, each designed for fixed installation and brought in to handle the high sound pressure levels brought on by productions gracing the venue. The system will also be filtered and controlled by L-Acoustics amplified controllers.

There are also 12 KARAi’s installed with four SB18i’s on each side in the cardioid mode helping to give consistent coverage across the site, with the first rows catered for thanks to four on-stage 8XTis.

“The system delivers great sound. We are especially happy with the great HF consistency in the system. We are looking forward to a busy season with KARAi in the main hall.” Says Sandnes Kulturhus’ technical manager, Stian Bru.

An additional installation, implementing six KARAi, two SB18i subs and two 12XT frontfills, was acquired by the OKS Vennesla Church and will be used in the Vennesla Culture house where the church congregates.

Soundvision 3D software will be used to enable teams to control sound pressure level and delay coverage as well as SPL mapping and an extra LA4 has also been purchased to function as part of an outdoor mobile system.

“The system has the best horizontal coverage, and the best sound.” Says Narve Kristiansen, Technical Managerof OKS Vennesla Church.

“We were trying to think long term with this investment, and decided on a KARA system because it’s scalable even if we move to another venue later.”
