Murray Stassen joins Audio Media International as Editor

Adam Savage has stepped down as editor of Audio Media International, with former Music Week deputy editor Murray Stassen joining the brand as editor effective immediately.

Savage has joined the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) as a content producer.

Stassen was working as a freelance music business journalist before joining the company.

Prior to that he held the position of deputy editor at AMI sister publication and respected weekly music industry journal Music Week before stepping down in September 2016 to go freelance as well as to undertake an MA in Music Business at the University of Westminster.

Stassen joined Music Week from PSNEurope in June 2014 as staff writer.

“It’s always sad to see someone of Adam’s experience and service leave the company, but the next chapter of his career promises to be hugely exciting,” said James McKeown, content director, NewBay. “Adam has done an excellent job with AMI over the years, and he leaves with the brand in a fantastic position to continue its first-rate coverage of the pro-audio sector.

“As one chapter closes, so another opens, and I’m delighted to be bringing Murray Stassen back into the business as AMI’s new editor. Having previously worked on our sister title Pro Sound News Europe and also been deputy editor of Music Week, he has exactly the right pedigree to come in and put his own stamp on the brand, and I’m really looking forward to working with him to further develop the quality and scope of what AMI’s coverage.”

Added Stassen: "I’m really looking forward to working with Colby, James and the team at NewBay Media and continuing the stellar work that Adam has done at Audio Media International over the years.

"Adam has left big shoes to fill, but with a team as dedicated and experienced as this and with the brand in such a strong position, I’m confident that we will be able to drive AMI forward and maintain its position as the leading technology resource for the pro-audio end user."
