PL+S 2012: Ampeg extends Portaflex cabinets at ProLight+Sound 2012

Ampeg has extended its Portaflex extension cabinets range at the ProLight+Sound event in Frankfurt with the announcement of two new models—the PF-115LF and PF-410HLF.

The popular Portaflex series mix powerful, shelf-ported designs that provide low-frequency extensions with good looks and affordability.

“While I don’t want to say we were shocked about the immense popularity of the Portaflex heads and cabs,” explained Ampeg’s Product Manager, Zane Williams. “I do have to say we were pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming response from bassists worldwide. These additional Portaflex cabinets are a direct response to customer requests.”

The Ampeg PF-115LF—which is capable of handling 400 watts—provides a vintage tone thanks to a single 15 inch Eminence driver. The cabinet does away entirely with the compression driver.

Equally, the Ampeg PF-410HLF—which can handle 800 watts—provides the much-sought-after 4×10 inch configuration in a compact design.

Both cabinets come with a rugged poplar cabinet design which include integrated side handles and casters which help users with easy transportation.

As with the other models in the Portaflex range, the PF-115LF and PF-410HLF both operate at 8 ohms. This allows the bassist to easily mix and match cabinets to get the exact speakers configuration they are listening out for.

The PF-115LF will be released with a RRP/SRP of $489.99. The PF-410HLF will be released with a RRP/SRP of $769.99.

Both the PF-115LF and PF-410HLF will be available in Q2 of 2012.

You can see the Ampeg products at ProLight+Sound from March 21st to March 24th at Hall 6.1, Stand C30.
