Popular Israeli nightclub installs QSC line arrays and loudspeakers

One of Israel’s leading nightclubs, The Beat, has installed a PA system based on QSC KLA Series Active Line Arrays and both K and KW Series Active Loudspeakers.

The system—which was installed by Kilim Electronics also based in the city—is suspended on either side of the Haifa nightclub’s main stage.

The club, which is on Hanasi Avenue, is one of Israel’s best-known music venues. As well as hosting live music from significant local artists and big-name touring international artists the venue also hosts an “open mic” night every Tuesday.

The Beat therefore needed its PA system to be spot on. Two QSC KLA arrays—each with three QSC KLA12 loudspeaker elements—are suspended either side of the main stage. In addition, eight QSC KW181 subwoofers provide the venue with the extended low end sound needed. For on-stage monitoring, the club plumped for six QSC K12 active loudspeakers. Finally, for PA out-fills a further two QSC K12s are placed around the club.

“The use of KLA, KW and K Series loudspeakers is very convenient and efficient,” explained the Head of Kilim Electronics, Gadi Kilim. “Since there are no amplifiers which physically take a lot of space, and the current draw of the K Family amplifier module is so low… the QSC system is the smart solution for permanent installations, especially when the audience is located close to the stage.”

According to the club’s owners, many artists have already noted the difference produced by the new system.

“A lot of artists play at The Beat on tour, and most of the live sound engineers who’ve worked here since the summer have commented on the improved sound quality and power offered by the new QSC system,” explained The Beat’s owners, Doron and Erez. “Most have liked the fact that the system produces audio at a high volume but does not hurt their ears like other nightclub PA systems.”

Accroding to Doron and Erez the improved sound has become yet another lure for people to the club.

“The sound is clear without distortion,” they added, “the subs are strong but not too overpowering, and the number of people who arrive at the club is increasing from week to week.”
