AMPS launches scholarship for NFTS production sound students

The Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS) has launched a new scholarship to support a student enrolled on the Production Sound for Film and Television Diploma at the National Film and Television School (NFTS).

The scholarship was presented to current student, Daniella Smith by AMPS chairman Paul Davies and NFTS director Nik Powell.

Clive Derbyshire, AMPS honorary treasurer and NFTS Production Sound tutor was also in attendance.

“We are incredibly pleased to be offering this new scholarship dedicated to the NFTS Production Sound Diploma. This course is the only one of its kind to focus entirely on production sound recording and embodies what AMPS is all about,” remarked Davies. “Our objective is to bring lively new blood to the industry and introduce students to the world of professional filmmaking. Daniella is a worthy recipient and we look forward to seeing her progress over the next year.”

“I am extremely grateful to receive support from AMPS. I discovered a love for sound while working as a boom operator and am particularly interested in the technical side,” Smith added. “I love everything on the course so far and feel very lucky to be a part of this exciting diploma!”
