Audio-Technica AT5040 debuts at BVE North

Audio-Technica is presenting a strong product line-up at BVE North, which gets underway today at Manchester Central.

The show represents the first opportunity for the UK trade to see Audio-Technica’s new high-end AT5040 studio vocal microphone (pictured), which was launched at AES in October.

The hand-built AT5040’s unusual proprietary design features four ultra-thin rectangular diaphragms, which function together to provide a combined surface area unachievable in a standard round diaphragm. With a smooth top-end, controlled sibilance and fast transient response, the AT5040 is designed as a first-choice microphone that is also ideal for acoustic instruments.

The company’s product and training specialist, Logan Helps, will be on hand as well, to discuss mic techniques for sports broadcasting, including insights into the use of Audio-Technica microphones at the London Olympics, as well as other topics.

The new Allen & Heath XB-10 broadcast mixer will also be on display on the Audio-Technica stand (E40). Designed for small radio or internet broadcast studios, the XB-10’s array of features belie its small footprint – a telephone communication channel, stereo channel start/cue outputs for CD deck transport control and auto muting of speaker outputs among them.

A wide selection of Audio-Technica and Allen & Heath products will be available for purchase during BVE North from Audio-Technica’s retail partner The Mic Store.
