BVE 2012: Shure showcases wide range of broadcast kit

Pro audio manufacturer, Shure, is showcasing a wide variety of its broadcast kit including portable wireless receivers, transmitters, mics and headsets at the BVE 2012 event at Earls Court between February 14th and 16th.

On display will be the company’s UR5 portable wireless receiver and URS Plug-on Transmitter, a VP68 omnidirectional exchange capsule, two professional shotgun mics, the VP82 and VP89 as well as two new headsets, the BRH440 and BRH441.

The UR5 portable wireless receiver for professional cameras is an extension to the renowned UHF-R premier wireless system. It has a two antenna diversity which ensures a solid RF performance. In addition it offers a Multi Transmitter Mode (MTX). The MTX mode allows the user, with a touch of a button, to switch between multiple transmitters. The UR5 also features a turning range up to 80MHz as well as “scan & sync”. This means that the set-up is both easy and efficient.

The UR5 can be powered either by conventional AA batteries of by using specific Shure rechargeable batteries. There is also a plug-in module which allows the receiver to be charged via the camera.

The UR3 plug-on transmitter for wired mics offers a wide range of useful features. These include a programmable mic preset list which allows the user to tailor settings such as gain or low cut filter. The UR3 is powered by two AA batteries and has the option between 12V or 48V phantom power.

Both the UR5 and UR3 are compatible with the Shure UHF-R and the Axient Wireless Management Network.

The VP68 omnidirectional condenser capsule is ideal for interview and broadcast applications. The capsule features high quality audio, a robust design and can be used with all Shure wireless handheld microphones.

The VP89 premium shotgun microphone is available in three modular lengths—small, medium and large. This offers maximum flexibility for all broadcast environments whether it be TV studios, field recording, theatre, sport events or more.

The VP89 provides neutral and precise sound. What is more, its off-axis rejection is superb and additional control is formed using the recessed low cut filter. The VP89 also comes as standard with A carrying case and foam windscreen. A wide variety of Rycote accessories are also available as desired.

The 76-gram VP82 short shotgun microphone provides users with a compact, lightweight small footprint microphone at an economical price. The VP82 offers natural off-axis rejection. Furthermore, as standard it comes bundled with a zipper pouch and a foam windscreen. The VP82 is fully compatible with the VP89 accessories.
