HHB supplies Studer solution for Imperial College Union

HHB Communications has upgraded the radio station at Imperial College London’s Student Union with a Studer OnAir 1500 digital mixing console.

The desk was chosen for its ability to deliver ease of use and professional-grade audio quality for the College – a premium science-based university consistently ranked among the best in the world.

The Union houses a student-run radio station, Imperial College Radio, which broadcasts a variety of programming ranging from music to comedy shows and discussion forums.

“The school wanted to refurbish the Student Union’s broadcast facilities, which includes a radio station, TV studio and rehearsal area,” said Andrew Hingley, education sales manager for HHB. “The radio station was the most important part of the upgrade, so they were looking for a mixer that could handle their audio needs and was easy to use.”

Ultimately, HHB and Imperial College Union opted for the Studer OnAir 1500, a 12-channel, 12-fader console designed as a flexible hybrid solution for radio broadcasting and production.

The OnAir 1500 is ideal for studios needing a compact and cost effective mixing console for a production room or studio. Integrated USB playback and record functions make the OnAir 1500 a very compact, yet complete, mixer, the manufacturer says.

“The OnAir 1500 is high-quality, easy to use and met the Union’s budget requirements, so it was a perfect fit for the station,” Hingley noted. “A lot of undergrads are also interested in pursuing careers in broadcasting after college, so it’s beneficial to familiarise them with products that they’ll encounter in professional studios.”
