LipSync Post upgrades to Dolby Atmos alongside new dual-op hybrid S6 and DFC desk

Internationally recognised post-production house, LipSync Post have welcomed an extensive upgrade to their Soho based facility. LipSync teamed up with HHB Communications to create a hybrid, dual Avid S6 and AMS Neve DFC-3D desk whilst upgrading the room to create Dolby Atmos mixes with a new HE-RMU. Scrub and HHB were on hand to support the install and upgrade every step of the way, with CTO John Johnson on hand to assist. “Our partnership with LipSync has been celebrated over the years and it continues through major projects such as this," said Johnson.

"LipSync have combined the best of both worlds with this brand-new upgrade, which showcases how we listen to our clients’ unique requirements and support them from concept, to install and beyond.” The setup has the best of both worlds with full access to both the classic and renowned Neve DFC sound whilst also bringing more hands-on control of their Avid Pro Tools automation via the S6 desks.

In order to streamline their workflow as more projects are mixed exclusively “in the box”, LipSync installed the S6s within the same frame as the DFC, with custom furniture created by Frozen Fish Design. This Dual Operator configuration frees the mix engineers to work on separate Pro Tools systems simultaneously for fast and efficient turnaround time in order to meet crucial project deadlines. Rob Hughes, senior re-recording mixer for LipSync post commented: “The move into extended surround formats like Dolby Atmos is very exciting. We have now completed our first feature mix in the refitted theatre.

"It has a very detailed, involved soundtrack; the new system handled it with ease! We have relied on Scrub for several major projects at LipSync – their unrivalled technical knowledge, combined with excellent service and post-install support has made Scrub our first choice, from planning to install.” Customers are invited to arrange an appointment to view the full features of the S6 with HHB’s knowledgeable Avid specialists to see how it can be custom configured to fit seamlessly with any professional workflow application.
