NAMM 2012: Blue Microphones unveils new Spark Digital mic

California-based Blue Microphones have unveiled their new Spark Digital microphone at the Winter NAMM 2012 event in Anaheim, California.

The new mic will offer plug ‘n play USB and direct iPad connectivity (via Apple’s 30 pin connector). This is the first studio-grade condenser mic to offer this.

The ability of the Spark Digital to directly connect to the iPad means that it can be used with recording apps such as GarageBand which will offer users a mobile studio setup for the ever growing number of iPad users.

According to Blue: “Expanding on the professional and sound of Blue’s Spark XLR studio microphone, Spark Digital features the same studio-grade condenser capsule and hand-tuned components for high-fidelity recording and consistence performance in any situation– vocals, drums, piano, speech, location recording and more.”

The Spark Digital also includes Focus Control. This provides the user with two different sonic options which can be selected simply by the push of a button.

The mic is also sold with an adjustable desk stand and a built-in shock mount. It also comes with y cables for each platform with a headphone jack. This allows for zero-latency real-time monitoring.

Blue Microphones can be found at Booth No. 6824 in Hall A at NAMM 2012.
