New Studer desk gets People’s Strictly for Comic Relief dancing

BBC Studios and Post Production has provided full studio facilities and technical support at Elstree for The People’s Strictlyfor Comic Relief.

To meet the complex audio requirements of supporting a full live orchestra and multiple mics, BBC Studios and Post Production upgraded its dedicated audio production gallery at Elstree Studios’ George Lucas Stage to a Studer Vista X large-scale mixing console technology for broadcast.

The company’s clients, particularly large entertainment shows of this scale, can now benefit from the increased processing power of the Studer Infinity Core.

Andy Tapley, sound supervisor at BBC Studios and Post Production, said: “This investment in the Studer Vista X desk has further strengthened our gallery offering within the George Lucas stages at Elstree and enables us to streamline the delivery of studio audio, ensuring the requirements of a complex audio set-up like The People’s Strictly for Comic Relief are met without compromise. We’re delivering a high track count within a short space of time for each dance, and we have the flexibility to rearrange a mix to meet any last minute changes.”

The four-part series sees Strictly Come Dancing throw open the doors of its ballroom for the very first time to the public. Voted for by the people of Great Britain, The People’s Strictly for Comic Relief champion will be crowned as part of the live Red Nose Day fundraising night on BBC One this Friday (13 March).
