Shure launches new products for ENG and Broadcast

Shure introduced a variety of wireless and mic products for ENG and broadcast applications at this year’s ProLight+Sound and NAB shows.

The UR5 and UR3 portable wireless receivers, the VP68 omnidirectional exchange capsule, plus the VP89 and VP82 shotgun microphones were all highlighted in Frankfurt and Las Vegas.

The UR5 portable wireless receiver has two antenna diversity for optimised RF performance, Multi Transmitter Mode (MTX) that at the touch of a button switches between multiple transmitters, a wide tuning range up to 80 MHz plus “scan & sync” ensuring fast and efficient frequency setup. The UR5 is powered by either, conventional AA batteries, specific Shure rechargeable batteries or a plug-in module that charges the receiver via the camera.

The UR3 plug-on transmitter for wired microphones offers programmable microphone preset lists to tailor settings such as gain or low cut filter. 12 or 48 V phantom power can be switched on optionally; two AA batteries are responsible for the power supply. The UR5 and UR3 are compatible with Shure UHF-R and Axient wireless systems.

The VP68 omnidirectional condenser capsule is suited for interview and broadcast applications. It features high quality audio, a robust design and can be used with all Shure wireless handheld microphones.

The VP89 is a premium shotgun microphone available in three modular lengths (S, M, L) offering maximum flexibility for all broadcast environments including TV studios, field recording, theatre, sport events. The sound of the VP89 is neutral and precise, its off-axis rejection unmatched and a recessed low cut filter delivers additional control. A carrying case and foam windscreen are included as standard, however a variety of Rycote accessories are also available.

The VP82 short shotgun is the economical choice for a compact, lightweight small footprint microphone. It delivers a natural off-axis rejection and comes with a zipper pouch and a foam windscreen plus it is also compatible with the VP89 accessories.

These new Shure broadcast and ENG products are expected in the summer of 2011.
