Video: HHB provides Avid S6 software v2.0 overview

HHB Communications has provided a handy overview of the various upgrades introduced in the Avid S6 version 2.0 software update.

HHB’s Devin Workman (pictured) highlighted the key features in a new video from the company, including those requested by Icon Power users.

There are a number of new additions, such as the inclusion of up to two dedicated definable Expand Zones for full access to EQ, Dynamics, Pan and Sends, and two separate assignable Spill Zones for VCAs, Track Types, Workstations and Layouts – features that will be recognisable to Icon users who are used to having custom faders available on the console. This is in addition to enhancements that enable the S6 M40 Display Modules to show Automation data directly on screen.

Other features included in the update allow users to flip the system’s rotary knobs to the motorised faders one row at a time and an improved Expand mode.

HHB also worked with Encore head of sound David Old on a video interview that outlines his belief that the S6 and Pro Tools provides Encore’s engineers with increased speed and creative freedom.

As UK S6 resellers and experienced installers of Avid Pro Tools systems, HHB and post production specialists Scrub have supplied numerous S6s and HDX upgrades to the UK’s broadcast sector, post production and educational facilities. HHB’s technical and sales support departments provide the services of three Avid Certified Service Representatives (ACSR) and have been named Avid’s EMEA Audio Top Channel Partner in 2013 and 2014.

Workman commented: “The Avid S6 version 2.0 software update introduces powerful features that will help users further customise the workflow of the S6, adding features that enhances navigation through large sessions by bringing powerful control features to the mix position.”
