Audio education facility The Blackbird Academy has announced that it is continuing its Carl Tatz Lecture Series on studio monitoring under the guidance of instructor and co-director of education, Professor Mark Rubel.

In the lectures, students are taught proprietary monitor positioning techniques used in Tatz’s TEC Award-winning PhantomFocus MixRoom designs.

Each lecture is preceded by a class visit to one of Tatz’s PhantomFocus MixRooms, where students are able to experience the PhantomFocus System (PFS) monitor tuning protocol. The PFS allows any monitors to perform at maximum accuracy – in any room – with a full 20Hz-to-20KHz frequency response and “pinpoint” imaging in what some owners have described as a “holographic sweet spot.”

Multi-award-winning studio designer Carl Tatz said: “In a sense, I feel that I am on a mission to help tomorrow’s engineers and producers learn some simple yet invaluable skills of studio monitoring that will greatly enhance their ability to succeed, even shine, as they move into the pro audio workforce.”

Once they’ve had the PFS experience of listening in that control room, they have a hundred questions, and all want a PhantomFocus MixRoom.”
