Cheryl Cole?s ?A Million Lights? tour mixed by Avid

Cheryl Cole recently kicked off her first solo arena tour of the UK and Ireland with an Avid VENUE D-Show system at the heart of the production.

The Girls Aloud star’s 11-date ‘A Million Lights’ tour began in Belfast on October 3rd and finishes tomorrow (October 17th) with two homecoming shows in Newcastle.

Handling FOH duties for the tour is acclaimed engineer Nick Warren, whose touring credits include The Prodigy, Roxy Music/Brian Ferry and Steps’ reunion tour. “I choose the VENUE D-Show System every time I go on tour because the desk is quick and easy to navigate and logical to programme,” said Warren. “It also sounds fantastic and never goes wrong – what else do you need from a sound desk?”

Discussing the set-up for the Cole tour, Warren revealed: “I’m using VENUE D-Show without the sidecar. It’s running via two analogue outputs into the PA system via a Midas XL42 and the subs are running through an auxiliary on the desk. We also have the VENUE D-Show connected to Pro Tools HD to run the 32 channels of playback.”

He concluded: “We were recording Cheryl’s London show at The O2 and obviously only had one shot at it. We used HDX outputs for the main Pro Tools record and as a back up we used the MADI out straight into a JoeCo BlackBox Recorder. It was easy and worked a treat.”
