Pro Sound Awards: Ben Hammond reaches the final

Ben Hammond has made the final four in the Live/Touring Sound – Engineer of the Year category of the first Pro Sound Awards, which will take place on 19 September at the Ministry of Sound.

Hammond is Deaf Havana’s FOH Engineer of choice. The fast-rising UK rockers – who supported Bruce Springsteen at Hard Rock Calling in June – have relied on him since early in their career. Hammond was a key player in the acoustic ‘An Evening With Deaf Havana’ tour in April 2013, when the band played to rave reviews. He has also worked with clients The Blackout, Skindred, Lower Than Atlantis, Ugly Kid Joe and Duff McKagan’s Loaded.

“Being nominated for the Pro Sound Awards has capped off an amazing year for me,” said Hammond. “I’m honoured to be next to my fellow nominees. This being the first year of the Awards makes it a little bit more special. It’s a small victory for us guys slogging our guts out in the rock world. To be noticed and put next to the pop world guys is a real compliment.”

Since September 2012 Hammond has worked at Download Festival, Woodstock Festival Poland, Merthyr Rock, Hard Rock Hell, Soundwave Croatia, Takedown Festival, The Great Escape, Slam Dunk and Greenfield Festival.

Finalists Anthony King, Jim Warren and Ben Findlay complete the Live/Touring Sound – Engineer of the Year category.
