Proposed development work threatens AIR Studios

London’s AIR Studios could be facing as much as six months of disruption due to proposed development work in a neighbouring property.

Musicians and composers, including Bond film score composer David Arnold, have written to Camden Council objecting to the work put forward. They argue that the work, which comprises an extensive underground development to the Grade II-listed home in Rosslyn Hill, would mean that the studio would not be able to operate for around six months or more due to severe noise pollution and underground vibration.

They have further asserted that the interruption to the facility’s operation would have wider implications, leading to a loss of income across the UK music recording community.

The studio was originally opened in its current location by Beatles producer George Martin in 1992, and has been the site of many famous film and music recordings over the years.

Alison Burton, manager of the Hampstead-based studio has also asked the membership of the MPG for its support against the proposed development.

You can view the application here. To support the studio, the MPG advise that objections are made as soon as possible via the Camden website and also directly to the case officer, Rob Tulloch: rob.tulloch@camden.gov.uk.
