Apple to unveil ‘studio quality’ over-ear headphones in 2019, rumours reveal

Apple is planning to launch its own brand of ‘studio quality’ over-ear headphones next year, reports Bloomberg.

The California-based company is also working on new AirPods with noise cancellation, water resistance and an improved working range away from an iPhone or iPad.

The over-ear models, which “will compete with pricey models from Bose Corp. and Sennheiser” were scheduled for release in 2018, but faced “development challenges” for a release this year. They will use Apple branding and be a higher-end alternative to the company’s Beats line.

Also planned for a 2019 launch, the new in-ear AirPod earbuds are likely to cost more than the existing $159 pair.

The current AirPods will be refreshed later this year with a new chip and support for hands-free Siri activation, Bloomberg News reported.
