Behringer updates X AIR for Android app

Behringer has upgraded the Android app for its X AIR digital mixer series, which enables the control of all mixing, processing and effects functions from an Android tablet or smartphone.

X AIR version 1.21 promises comprehensive control for the X18, XR18, XR16, and XR12 mixers. The user interface is configurable for either simplified access or expert level editing, for mixing 18 input channels to 12 buses. Control is also provided for the four internal stereo effects processors – all of which feature the Behringer X32 audio processing engine.

Newly added features include support for XR12/XR16 USB recorder functions with I/O metering; show and scene storage within the app; faster data synchronisation between X AIR mixer and application, and enhanced IDCA performance.

Music Group senior engineer of conception Jan Duwe commented: “The X AIR Series not only changes the game, it changes the very playing field – by accommodating all of the world’s most popular operating systems.”

The X AIR app provides the mobility for the user to adjust the house mix from any seat and fine-tune monitor mixes from on-stage. Since all X AIR mixers feature internal access points, users can simply select the X AIR network and connect the Android device to it. Upon opening the app, the X AIR mixer appears as a controllable device, and can be used to lock the Android smartphone or tablet to that specific X AIR mixer.

All versions of the X AIR App can also run in demo mode – without connecting an X AIR mixer. Additional hardware is not required.
