BVE 2016: Pro Tools Dock to make UK show debut

HHB Communications will debut the compact Avid Pro Tools Dock, a new EUCON control surface that works with iPad and Avid’s iOS app Pro Tools Control, at BVE 2016.

On stand L45 at the show, HHB will pair the new Dock with the 16-fader Pro Tools S3 control surface to demonstrate ‘more powerful mixing workflows.’

Based on the Master Touch Module of the Pro Tools S6 control surface, Pro Tools Dock adds to the touchscreen capabilities of the iPad with a single fader, assignable knobs, switches, jog shuttle wheel, a full transport section, automation mode switches, programmable soft keys and more. With 12 dedicated automation switches, users can toggle modes and write automation directly from the surface.

Pro Tools Dock allows users to work with EUCON-enabled DAWs and video editing tools including Pro Tools, Media Composer, Logic Pro X, Cubase and Premiere Pro. When paired with Pro Tools or Pro Tools HD, many key commands, shortcuts, functions and UI elements can be accessed without clicking a mouse.

When combined with Pro Tools S3, users gain new touch workflows, custom control and additional visual feedback, making it ideal for mixing music and post projects in smaller spaces – and on smaller budgets. John Johnson, CTO at HHB, said: “Pro Tools Dock is a powerful and customisable centre section, great standalone or a perfect addition to the S3. It’s compact and relatively inexpensive, but brings a host of features previously exclusive to ICON and S6.”

Pro Tools Dock is expected to start shipping in spring and will be priced at £789 (ex VAT.)
