d&b audiotechnik unveils D40 amplifier

German audio firm d&b audiotechnik has unveiled the new D40 amplifier, a mobile version of the brand’s 40D installation amplifier.

The four-channel Class D amplifier is smaller and lighter and features advanced voltage management and increased system performance while significantly reducing power consumption, says d&b.

“The D40 is a great example of d&b’s drive to produce innovative, high-performing audio solutions,” said Wolfgang Schulz, Product Manager, d&b audiotechnik. “Enhanced feature benefits and power efficiency combined with energy savings features increases system efficiency.”

The amp’s user interface consists of a 4.3-inch colour touchscreen along with a digital rotary encoder, offering comprehensive information on the device configuration along with enhanced status monitoring.

The D40 has a dynamic range of 116 dB (unweighted) and is designed to drive high-efficiency d&b loudspeakers while providing management and protection capabilities. It reaches 180V peak, for full performance from d&b KSL System loudspeakers, V-Series and Y-Series.

The D40 uses Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to incorporate loudspeaker configurations and user-definable setups, equalization and delay functions for maximum flexibility.

Advanced voltage management means that the demand for input power is lower, making it an eco-friendly device. It also has enhanced features and an automatic walk-up function to further boosts its green credentials.

The D40 benefits from the full range of d&b technology software including ArrayCalc, ArrayProcessing, NoizCalc and the R1 Remote control software. These elements all come together in the d&b Workflow.
