Dean St MD Jasmin Lee and Dolby specialist Stan Kybert take AMI inside revamped studio

Audio Media International has spoken to Dean St Studios managing director Jasmin Lee and Dolby Atmos specialist Jan Stan Kybert about the legendary facility’s relaunch and its new Dolby Atmos set up.

Last month, the iconic London studio, which has seen the likes of David Bowie, Adele, John Legend, Lady Gaga, Paul Weller and many other luminaries pass through its doors down the years, relaunched with a new Dolby Atmos mixing suite in its flagship Studio 1.

Hailed by Lee as a game-changer for artists, Dolby Atmos install features PMC’s IB2S XBD-A active monitors covering left and right main channels, an IB2S-A monitor for the centre channel, 10 discrete Wafer2 loudspeakers for surround and height channels and four sub2 subwoofers. The set up is an identical replica of the PMC system originally designed for Universal Music and installed two years ago at Capitol Studio’s in Los Angeles.

Here, AMI editor Daniel Gumble catches up with Lee and Kybert to discuss the studio’s reopening through COVID and what the groundbreaking new set up has to offer.
