Game Music Connect: Final expert speakers revealed

Game Music Connect has announced the completion of its speaker lineup for the third annual international video game conference on 15 September.

The first of the final two additions is Nick Arundel, composer and audio director at Rocksteady Studios, and the man responsible for the music in the developer’s Batman: Arkham trilogy, including this year’s Arkham Knight (pictured).

Hollywood conductor Allan Wilson will also appear as a key speaker. In addition to conducting blockbuster scores such as Avengers: Age of Ultron, he has also worked on various video games, including the Fable and Harry Potter series.

The pair will join SCEA music director Chuck Doud and COOL Music CEO/composer agent Darrell Alexander for ‘Score To Studio 2’, a roundtable discussion on recording live orchestra for video games, addressing the complex commissioning and delivery process which lies behind orchestral video game music while employing a small army of executives, audio directors, talent agents, orchestral contractors, conductors, musicians, recording staff and implementers.

Back in July, the organiser confirmed that the focus of this year’s BAFTA Interview 2015 will be the talent behind the award-winning audio for Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation, a game profiled in AMI‘s March issue.

This year’s programme is also set to feature sessions focussing on Virtual Reality and its effect on the industry, as well as a range of diverse practical topics ranging from live orchestral recording and interactive music engines through to sample library creation and showreel presentation.
