Getting To Know… Phil Wright

This week, revered sound designer and mix engineer, Phil Wright, takes the hotseat for our Getting To Know interview…

How did you get into the industry?
I worked in a music shop in my teens and did PA for local bands. When I was a bit older, I started work at Watford Palace Theatre.

What was your first job?
Sound engineer at B&H Production Services – 1996.

What does your working day look like?
Usually wake up early to travel or later on a tour bus. Load-in 10.00, soundchecks 17.00, show 20.00, get-out 22.30-00.00, rinse and repeat.

What is your favourite thing about the pro audio industry?
The crowd response to all of the team doing a good job and delivering an amazing show.

And your least favourite thing?
Poor crew catering. Crew catering has to be done properly.

What is the achievement/project you are most proud of?
Starting my own limited company after 17 years of working for other people and being my own boss and building my own brand.

What do you like to do outside of work?
Spending time with my children and partaking in club level motorsport, when I have time.
