Getting To Know… Sergey Becker

This week, Sergey Becker, application engineer at L-Acoustics, takes the hot seat for this week’s Getting To Know interview…

How did you get into the industry?
I always loved sound, so I called a help desk of the local telephone line provider and they gave me a phone number of the local rental company. They got me on board several days later and it went from there.

What was your first job?
My first ever job was electrician in the mining company. My first job in the pro audio industry was helping to set up a system for an outdoor gig.

What does your working day look like?
Every day is different. It could be an office day working from home, it could be a 5am start onsite with a 2am finish the following day.

What is your favourite thing about the pro audio industry?
Being immersed in amazing sound and the feeling of being one with the rest of the audience and the artist during a good gig.

And your least favourite thing?
Lack of day light and fresh air in indoors environment (apart from the open-air gigs).

What is the achievement/project you are most proud of?
I very much enjoyed being involved in most of my projects, and I feel grateful for that experience. But I am not sure if I am proud of anything or want to be proud of anything. Pride is an illusion, for sure.

What do you like to do outside of work?
Sometimes simply nothing, just being with the kids, exploring outdoors and nature, driving, gathering and partying with my very big family, spending time with friends, being alone.
