Katie Tavini joins AMI as new monthly columnist

Audio Media International is delighted to reveal that mastering engineer Katie Tavini has joined its editorial team, penning a monthly column from October 2020.

Having started her studio career in various studio assistant roles with various bands from in and around Manchester, as well as engineering and producing her own material, Tavini has worked on a number of highly acclaimed records. Among her most recent mastering credits are Nadine Shah’s Kitchen Sink and Pillow Queens’ In Waiting. She also appears regularly at industry conferences and panels discussing everything from issue of diversity and studio techniques.

Furthermore, this year saw Tavini co-found 2% Rising, an online hub aimed at raising the profile of female and non-binary engineers and producers.

In addition to her studio work, Tavini was also a regular columnist for the recently closed PSNEurope.

“I’m so thrilled to have been asked to write for Audio Media International,” Tavini commented. “When PSNEurope closed at the start of March due to the pandemic, I was really gutted, as writing each month became almost like therapy to me. I can’t wait to get stuck in to writing for Audio Media International!”

AMI editor, Daniel Gumble, added: “As well as being an incredible mastering engineer, Katie is one of the most talented columnists in the business. From studio tips and tricks to incisive critiques of the most pressing issues facing the industry, her contributions are always informative, engaging and entertaining. She is also an absolute pleasure to work with and her columns will be an invaluable asset to AMI. I can’t wait to start working with her again.”
