Lake Controller Version 6.1 now available

API has exclusive advanced details of Lake Controller v6.1, the most significant update to the digital audio processing platform yet.

The new release features substantially improved implementation of Dante – the digital audio networking technology from Audinate – as well as new integration support for real-time audio analysis software, SysTune, and a number of other key developments aimed at both live sound and large-scale fixed install applications.

Across both Lab.gruppen’s PLM Series and Lake’s LM Series, v6.1 offers greatly improved Dante functionality for all devices, with seamless synchronisation between the Lake Controller and Audinate’s Dante Controller, where all information is now also available for the PLM and LM Series products.

The update is designed to make Dante easier to configure in large networked systems and more stable and reliable than ever before, with increased compatibility with Dante Controller for parallel monitoring, naming and routing from either controller. Additionally, a brand new feature has been added to both PLM and LM Series platforms that allows the user to set their Lake devices as the preferred Dante network Clock Master.

The entire Dante implementation in Lake Controller has been improved for better overview and ease of use. There is now a new separate Dante Receiver for intuitive routing, and by default, Dante is now the highest priority source in the PLM/LM input router, valid when a Dante stream is routed to the specific Dante Receiver in either the Lake Controller or Dante Controller, giving more ‘plug and play’ functionality. Just as before, the router offers full flexibility and multiple Dante Receivers can be used – giving up to seamless quadruple signal redundancy with different Dante sources on both Prio1 and Prio2, AES on Prio3 and Analog on Prio4.

v6.1 also introduces further RTA software integration possibilities with SysTune 1.3 now featured, adding to the recent integration with Smaart v7 and LiveCapture – introduced last year with v6.0. SysTune is a well-known real-time professional measurement software from AFMG that embodies a host of major features including spectrogram, transfer function, real-time IR, Virtual EQ, SPL/LEQ and SSA filter for high noise immunity. Real time integration with Lake Controller will be implemented with the imminent release of SysTune 1.3.

Martin Andersson, product manager for Lab.gruppen and Lake, said: “We knew that the improvements we set out to implement with Lake Controller 6.1 were challenging, and it has been. But equally, the end result is beyond our expectations. This is by far the best Lake release in its entire history.”

Elsewhere within Lake Controller, IP configuration has been overhauled and is now considered more as a parameter selection that follows that specific hardware, and does not change with System recall or similar.

Other notable v6.1 features include:

– Support for Fixed IP along with Dante and Dual Redundancy
– Users are able to monitor Fixed IP, Auto IP or DHCP configuration via front panel
– Global Dual Redundancy control from the Lake Controller
– Monitoring of Dual Redundancy state in front panel home view
– Technical Data popup in I/O Config is now available for offline and virtual frames
– Various improvements and bug fixes

With Lab.gruppen PLM Series amplifiers being used more and more in fixed installations, there are also new features in Lake Controller 6.1 that offer enhanced capabilities on the install side.

A new Pilot Tone function has been introduced, which facilitates generation and real-time monitoring of an inaudible test signal within the PLM 20000Q and PLM 10000Q* platforms. Designed to support installations that require 24/7 monitoring of the connected loudspeakers, this means that any fault within a large scale system can be immediately notified, located and rectified.
