Lucid Air is world’s first car to get Dolby Atmos immersive audio

The latest model from luxury electric car maker Lucid Motors will be the first vehicle to be fitted with Dolby Atmos.

The Lucid Air’s 21-speaker Surreal Sound system features front, rear, side and height speakers all precisely placed to deliver Dolby’s immersive audio.

Dolby’s Atmos technology delivers multi-dimensional sound that places the listener right at the heart of the action. Dolby Atmos Music brings the same experience to the musical experience, adding more space and depth to soundtracks.

The Lucid Air’s ground-breaking speaker system was tuned using the famous Capitol Records Studio C mixing suite as the reference design.

The car’s sound system also brings a safety boost to the vehicle by enhancing driver aids that involve directional acoustic signalling of warnings and notifications.

“From reimagined classics to some of today’s biggest chart-topping hits, Dolby Atmos Music has been positively embraced and viewed by the music community as one of the industry’s biggest paradigm shifts within the past 50 years,” said Dolby Laboratories’ Director of Music, Tim Pryde.

“As a company, we are fully committed to bringing immersive audio to all the ways in which music is enjoyed. Automotive is a natural extension for the incredible experience of music in Dolby Atmos, and we are excited to bring this to the world with Lucid.”
