New UA Apollo Thunderbolt 2 interfaces

Universal Audio introduced a new line of Apollo audio interfaces for Mac Thunderbolt users at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt this year.

The new interfaces feature A/D and D/A conversion and new monitoring functions within a black aluminum housing, alongside onboard UAD-2 DSP allowing Realtime UAD Processing for recording through plug-ins from Lexicon, Studer, Manley, Ampex, UA, and more at ‘near zero’ latency.

Unison-enabled mic preamps and Hi-Z inputs (Apollo 8p and Apollo 8) allow for tracking through preamp emulations from Neve, API, and Universal Audio, and Thunderbolt 2 audio interfaces (Mac only) allow cascading for up to 4 Apollo interfaces and 6 UAD devices total over Thunderbolt. The interfaces also include “Realtime Analog Classics Plus” UAD plug-in bundle with 610-B Tube Preamp & EQ, Softube Amp Room, legacy LA-2A, 1176, and Fairchild compressors, Pultec EQs, and more.

The Apollo 8 model features four Unison-enabled mic preamps and Hi-Z inputs and is now shipping worldwide at US$1,999 w/ UAD-2 DUO Processing and US$2,499 w/ UAD-2 QUAD Processing.

The Apollo 8p features eight Unison-enabled mic preamps and Hi-Z inputs, and is set to ship in Q2 at US$2,999 w/ UAD-2 QUAD Processing.

Also set for Q2, Apollo 8p features eight Unison-enabled mic preamps at US$2,999 w/ UAD-2 QUAD Processing.

Finally, the Apollo FireWire offers Apollo’s A/D and D/A conversion and Realtime UAD processing to Windows and legacy FireWire Macs, alongside 4 Unison-enabled mic. The Apollo FireWire is set to ship in Q2 at US$1,999 w/ QUAD Processing.
