PLASA Focus: Glasgow shows strong growth in second year

With an increase of 26% on floorspace, the second edition of PLASA Focus: Glasgow has been hailed a success by the organiser, with 50% more brands participating and visitors up 32% on last year’s inaugural show.

The event, which took place at the SECC from 20-21 January, offered live product demonstrations, two days of seminar sessions and over 75 brands in an environment designed to facilitate networking and face-to-face business. Attracting visitors with a combined spending power of £130 million, the development of the show reflects the continued expansion of the industry in the region, PLASA says.

David Steedsy Stevenson from Ward Steedsy Audio, distributor of Funktion-One in Scotland, commented: “It’s the first time we’ve had a trade stand at a PLASA event. This year we are pleasantly surprised, we’ve had a lot of traffic through, including people we never knew before and we are making new contacts. There is the social side of it too – it was great fun last night meeting up with lots of people and the PLASA staff were very helpful.”

Attendance for the seminar programme also reflected the 556 visitors pre-registered to attend sessions from expert speakers such as d&b audiotechnik’s Adam Hockley and Nexo’s Stuart Kerrison.

“We are pleased with the lively atmosphere on the show floor and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors alike," added PLASA’s director of events Christopher Toulmin. "We are looking forward to PLASA Focus: Leeds (10-11 May), which has grown in size this year due to exhibitor demand with the addition of The Pavilion, and to the PLASA Show at London Olympia (18-20 September), which will demonstrate major changes and development to the show’s proposition. The PLASA Events team are working hard to deliver business platforms that meet the needs of the industry and the success of the Glasgow show is a great testament to that.”
