PLASA Focus Leeds completes 2017 seminar schedule

This year’s edition of PLASA Focus Leeds is set to feature a ‘stellar line-up’ of seminar sessions and speakers when it returns to the Royal Armouries Museum on 9 and 10 May.

d&b audiotechnik’s Oran Burns will be exploring the future of audio technology in a session titled “What’s Next for Pro Audio,” while audio journalist Phil Ward will host a panel session to discuss “Is Point Source Fighting Back?” – an exploration of the varied applications of point source over line array.

Long-time contributors to the PLASA seminar programme, Soulsound, will host two seminars during the show. The first session will cover “In Ear Monitoring” including tips and techniques to get the best out of the technology, while the second session will discuss “Working in the music industry if you’re not technical.”

Danley Sound Labs’ Professor Doug Jones will present their first ever seminar in the UK, during which he will speak about the company’s installs at both Disney and NFL stadiums in the USA, explaining how their Synergy Horns work and how they can often be a better solution to other methods on the market. There will also be a free Dante Networking Event whereby visitors can learn more about the protocol, including presentations, training workshops and live table-top displays from the sponsors.

With over 175 companies at the show, there will also be many products for visitors to get their hands on, some of which are being showcased for the very first time. VDC Trading will be showing some of Van Damme Cable’s latest products on its stand R-B02, including the Black Series reduced OD speaker cable and the Digi-Tour AES/DMX multicore.

NEXO will be showing GEO M10, a compact wide-bandwidth module that’s quick and easy to deploy in flown arrays or groundstacks, while Funktion-One will show the Evo 7TH and Evo 7 TL-215 touring loudspeakers, which were launched at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Roland will demo the M-5000C Live Mixing Console along with its VR-4HD HD AV Mixer with built-in USB 3.0 for web streaming and recording. Additionally, CADAC will be showing its CDC seven audio mixing console, which also received its European debut at Prolight + Sound recently.
