PL+S 2017: d&b demos new loudspeaker software

d&b audiotechnik is using Prolight + Sound to launch its ArrayCalc Viewer app, a new mobile interface that provides key information for positioning and flying a d&b loudspeaker system in a quick and easy format, including all relevant rigging, setup and system details.

Also new at the show is the R1 Array verification tool, which works by identifying the position of a loudspeaker in an array, then comparing its order within the array to the one in ArrayCalc.

Staff are demonstrating the new tools on d&b’s stand C15 in hall 3.1 at this year’s show, which takes place from 4-7 April in Frankfurt, Germany.

d&b is also showing its J-Series, Y-Series and V-Series loudspeakers, which all make full use of the new software solutions. All three models combine line and point source technologies, and are designed to support the smallest corporate speech reinforcement, all the way up to large scale stadium shows.

Ahead of its May release, visitors can also see the new 6 x D80 Touring rack assembly, created for more efficient cabling, setup and pack down. With 6 x D80 amplifiers in a single rack, a total of 12 x J-Series cabinets can be driven with ArrayProcessing, or 24 cabinets in standard mode with linked loudspeakers.

Away from its stand, two d&b presentations will be hosted at the Manufacturers’ Forum, located at level C, in room ‘Substanz’. On Wednesday 5 April from 2-3pm, David Claringbold, former technical director of Sydney Opera House, will explore the theme of sound in the environment as part of the d&b audiotechnik Sound Futures program.

On Thursday 6 April, from 3-4pm, Dr. Elena Shabalina and Daniel Belcher are taking on the topic of noise emission management. Following the launch of NoizCalc at last year’s show, the presentation will focus on its first year in the field.
