PreSonus Studio 2|6, 6|8 USB audio/MIDI interfaces now available

PreSonus has announced it is now shipping its new Studio 2|6 and Studio 6|8 USB 2.0 audio/MIDI interfaces.

Both interfaces record at up to 24-bit, 192 kHz resolution and feature PreSonus’ XMAX microphone preamps, ‘audiophile-grade’ digital converters, ‘ultra-low-jitter clocking’ and MIDI I/O.

As with all PreSonus recording systems, the new units come with the company’s award-winning Studio One Artist DAW software and Studio Magic Plug-in Suite for Mac and Windows. The Studio Magic bundle includes seven popular plug-ins in VST, AU, and AAX formats.

The Studio 2|6 2×4 bus-powered interface features two front-panel combo mic and switchable line/instrument inputs with +48V phantom power for condenser microphones. In addition to the L/R main outputs, there are two balanced line outputs for monitor mixing, while LED meters indicate input and output levels. A Cue Mix A/B function lets the user toggle between two mixes while monitoring through headphones – ideal for DJs and to listen in on a performer’s monitor mix. This combination makes Studio 2|6 suitable for podcasters, singer/songwriters, DJs, live streaming, or a couple of guitarists who want to collaborate or jam. It could be used for recording sermons and teaching music as well.

An ‘excellent choice’ for small studios, according to PreSonus, the 6-in, 6-out Studio 6|8 (main picture and above) sports two front-panel combo mic/line/instrument inputs and a pair of rear-panel mic/line inputs. As well as the L/R main outputs, it offers two balanced line outputs for monitor mixing or speaker switching, plus S/PDIF I/O. It includes the same Cue Mix A/B function as the 2|6 too.

The new models are available immediately at PreSonus dealers, with expected US MAP/street prices of $199 (2|6) and $299 (6|8).
