Prolight + Sound: Avid reveals new software update for S6L

Avid announced that a new VENUE 5.1 software update is now available for all of its S6L mixing systems at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt this week.

The new software update offers ‘significantly enhanced capabilities’ for the S6L – a fully modular, scalable live sound mixing system designed for a range of live sound mixing applications including front-of-house, monitor, broadcast, theatre and more.

Avid says the VENUE E6L engine allows the S6L – with all processing at 96kHz – to handle huge channel and plug-in counts at the lowest possible latency.

The S6L is a networked system that can be completely customised to meet the user’s needs and is powered by Avid Everywhere, making it what the company describes as ‘the perfect front-end to the Avid MediaCentral Platform.’

New enhancements and key features for the VENUE 5.1 software update include:

•Support for two AVB-192 Ethernet AVB Network Cards, which enables users to expand their VENUE | S6L systems to support up to 192 remote mic-pres and 96 outputs using three fully loaded Stage 64 I/O Racks.

•Spill Mode, which allows engineers to quickly spill any Aux, Group, or VCA members onto the surface faders for immediate channel access.

•Enhanced visual feedback of parameters and states on the high resolution OLED displays.

•Improved VENUE show file compatibility with other VENUE systems.

Customers with active support plans can receive the VENUE 5.1 software update at no charge via their Avid Account.
