Prolight + Sound: Lake Controller v6.4 revealed

Demonstrated throughout Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt this year, the Lake Controller v6.4 software program introduces a number of features designed to facilitate faster and more accurate optimisation of complex, large-scale sound reinforcement systems.

Specifically, v6.4 adds new elements to preset and EQ handling with the introduction of Recallable EQ Overlays.

“With this new feature, users can store and recall individual EQ overlays to modules and groups in Lake Controller,” Lab.gruppen product manager Martin Andersson explained. “Now any given speaker preset can consist of a single base preset which then can be augmented with EQ overlay additions. This allows fast modification of a preset to compensate for the number of boxes in an array or for variations in system throw distance.”

Additionally, when an EQ Overlay is either stored or recalled to a Module or Group, the store/recall path also is stored in the actual Overlay for the module. This feature allows users to switch between different EQ Overlays with the same type of compensation. A speaker manufacturer or rental company can pre-define these paths for distribution inside the Lake LoadLibrary.

The new software release also includes updated button placement for the MESA EQ section, in addition to a number of other new features that provide loudspeaker manufacturer partners an expanded toolbox for protecting and distributing their Lake-related presets and contents.

Lake Controller v6.4 incorporates implementation of Lab.gruppen’s RPM (Rational Power Management), including the AutoRPM feature first introduced in v6.3.1. As seen in Lab.gruppen’s new PLM+ Series and D Series Lake products, AutoRPM enables automatic allocation of power available to each output channel, optimised for the connected loads, simply by raising or lowering the ISVPL limiter settings in Lake Controller.

“With these new features, we are confident that Lake Controller will further cement its established reputation as the most powerful and flexible DSP software for large scale sound reinforcement applications,” concluded Andersson.

The Lake Controller v6.4 software program is scheduled for release later this spring.
