Prolight + Sound: Nexo launches ID Series loudspeakers

The Prolight + Sound expo provided the first view of the new family of low-profile, high-output loudspeakers for the installation and commercial markets from Nexo, which also used the show to announce Orbital Sound as its new principal dealer and rental partner in the UK.

The ID (InSpace Definition) products are intended as problem-solvers for the toolkits of system designers and installers in all areas of the audio business. The ID Series cabinets are super-compact and low profile for use in awkward and acoustically challenging spaces. Using a variety of mounting options, the ID24 compact cabinet is designed to fit into almost any environment and offer high SPL output with variable directivities to ‘beam’ sound into difficult spaces.

At launch, the ID Series is comprised of three products:

• The ID24 full-range compact speaker, using twin 4in drivers in a V formation combined with an HF compression driver offering two preset directivity options.

• Two low-profile subs, ID S110 (1x10in) and ID S210 (2x10in).

Nexo has designated three versions: ID24i for installation, ID24t for touring and AV applications, and ID24c or the ‘a la carte’ version, which allows the customer to custom-configure the speaker to match their requirements.

The ID24 has a user-adjustable horn, which can be rotated without the need for tools by a switch on the rear panel, giving 60 or 120° HF coverage with the standard horn fitted. This allows the HF horizontal dispersion to be ‘tuned’ for the given application.

Designed for the fixed installation environment with its termination in captive cable for connectivity with existing wiring, the ID24i is available in Black or White with a matching fabric grille. It comes with threaded holes for compatibility with Nexo and popular third-party mounting hardware. It is all-weather IP55 rated as well.

For AV and live music applications, the ID24t has a touring spec, featuring Speakon connectors and quick-release rigging points for horizontal or vertical mounting. Also compatible with a range of Nexo and third-party accessories, ID24t is available in Black with a matching steel grille.

The ID24 cabinet’s module can be mounted horizontally or vertically, and, using the correct accessories, can be deployed as an under-balcony reinforcement module. In live performance situations, the ID24 can pole-mount or clip onto truss. A purpose-designed accessory allows it to be angled for stage front-fill applications. ID24 can also be used as a wedge monitor, when stood upright in the horizontal plane.

There are two compact subs in the ID Series. The S110 single 10in and the S210 double 10in offer a low-profile design, which allows them to be easily installed in a wide range of locations – within walls, staircases, under furniture and more.

The ID24 features 16x ID24 cabinets which can be powered by a single NXAMP4x1 powered TDController, which delivers features including ‘channel-by-channel’ preset selection and remote monitoring using the NeMo app. EtherSound and Dante network compatibility is available as an option.
