Prolight + Sound outlines 2015 Conference details

Prolight + Sound has announced details of the conference programme for the 2015 Frankfurt show, which takes place from 15-18 April.

Speakers at the Prolight + Sound Conference will communicate practical knowledge and discuss the latest technological developments, new areas of application and legal parameters. The lectures will be held on the first three days of the fair, and are free of charge for visitors.

The Prolight + Sound Conference in Hall 9.1, Hall 9.T Cosmopolitan Lounge and Galleria 1 offers answers to current questions on event and media technology, and the programme is split into four thematic blocks.

As part of the expanded programme for trade visitors from the theatre technology and planning segment, several well-known personalities will speak at this year’s Theatre and Film Colloquium. They include keynote speaker Robert Wilson, who is described as one of the world’s most active and influential theatre and opera directors. Theatre expert Andy Hayles, CEO of the Charcoalblue consultancy for theatre technology, will also discuss theatre design and new technologies, and look at the future of the sector.

The Media Systems segment will focus on systems integration and AV technology. One of the major subjects this year is frequency (spectrum) management. Representatives from Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser and Shure, as well as from the Association of Professional Wireless Production Technologies, will pass on tips and examples of applications and best practices. Other subjects to be covered include new production tools for 3D sound design and digital media networking.

Organised by the Association of German Sound Engineers, the VDT (Verband Deutscher Tonmeister) Academy is also aimed at the professional audio sector. Prof Michael Schubert, director of the Erich Thienhaus Institute at Detmold Music University, will provide insight into the preparation, production and mixing of modern film music; Gabriel Grote of bg audiodesign will speak about corporate sound; while Philipp Heck, sound engineer of Bauer Studios, will discuss analogue technology. Renowned producers Gareth Jones (Depeche Mode, Erasure), Tony Platt (AC/DC, Bob Marley, Iron Maiden) and Stevan Krakovic (projects for Lufthansa) will be representing the Music Producers Guild, offering advice on backing-up and archiving digital recording projects.

Additionally, speakers will look at legal developments and issues such as the new German Event Venue Regulations and noise protection at events.
