RCF helps Nightlife Consultancy transform nightclub into Wonderworld

Leisure operators No Saints has appointed Nightlife Consultancy to transform a former nightclub in Milton Keynes into the surreal Wonderworld environment with a key part being the installation of RCF loudspeakers.

This new 1800 capacity venue has been designed into a nightclub twin-scene named Tomorrow and Yesterday, set around a Secret Garden and a red VIP lounge.

Main contractor, Optik Leisure, worked alongside installation company Nightlife Consultancy in equipping all areas with RCF loudspeakers as part of a wider multimedia integration.

These speakers were selected for their high performance, evenness of coverage and unobtrusive footprint and the chosen products range include the TT+ subs, set on the truss over the main Tomorrow dance floor, the Art enclosures and will also play background music in the private Mind, Soul & Body rooms.

Customers can choose their own sound in these rooms and Nightlife has utilised a pair of RCF ART 408-A MII enclosures, accompanied by Ayra 10 active subwoofer in these private areas.

The environment has been designed by Terri Naylor of Dakota Design who conceived the digital network architecture based around a dbx SC-32 digital matrix.

Six of RCF’s Acustica C3108 compact, wide-dispersion, low visibility speakers are distributed in the Secret Garden accompanied by three S4012 subs and the DSP contains several EQ scene presets including main club scene, fire evacuation, conference mode, DJ stage and live band mode.

The soundscape across the corridors and walkways of the venue is delivered through a selection of RCF’s PL60FD flush-mount 100V line ceiling speakers and around the periphery of the dance floor are six of RCF’s C3110 full range speakers each set in portrait mode.

A DJ workstation, manufactured by Nightlife Consultancy, will house all the CDJ’s, a DJM-2000 mixer and a Soundcraft MFX20 band mixer.

Concealed behind a fake bookcase is a door leading to the VIP Lounge containing a six further RCF C3108s in landscape format and two S4012 subs in each corner.

In the Yesterday area are six C3108’s and gracing the dance floor are two RCF S8028 subs providing LF extension to the six low profile C4128 boxes flown horizontally.

Tomorrow is equipped with eight RCF DPS 3000’s, run in bridge mode, with one amp per sub.

For the full range enclosures, three RCF HPS 2500, bridged in 4-ohm pairs, run the 12in LF section while the mids and high end are assigned to two HPS 1500s. Adastra 1U mixer amps run the distributed PL60 ceiling speakers.

“The sound system is now phenomenal,” says Wonderworld general manager Jay Davidson.

“The atmosphere has been transformed.”
