Registration for 29th Tonmeistertagung now open

Verband Deutscher Tonmeister (VDT) has invited professionals from across the industry to submit their contributions for the 29th Tonmeistertagung convention, set to take place from 17-20 November 2016 in Cologne, Germany.

VDT, the German Association of Sound Engineers, says that visitors can expect ‘an exciting and extensive’ programme at this year’s convention, with main topics including, so far: virtual reality, musical and live sound, speech intelligibility on TV, and current trends in sound reinforcement.

All experienced Tonmeisters, sound engineers, producers, scientists, companies and institutes are being asked to submit their product and workshop contributions before 18 July via the portal on the VDT website.

‘Company-neutral’ talks and poster presentations will discuss current industry developments and hands-on topics, while workshops will offer the opportunity to showcase audio-visual work at the event.

Several halls will be set up for presentations in a variety of formats, including 3D multichannel audio and HD videos. At the talkback forum, sound editors, producers and students can present their productions for a critical and constructive discourse with colleagues.

The Tonmeistertagung is an expert meeting for audio professionals, producers, artists, vendors, suppliers, developers, and scientists, providing what the VDT describes as a ‘valuable impetus’ to professional audio experts from all sectors of the industry, as well as an overview of the latest trends in product development, research and application.

Areas covered include broadcasting, film, video, recording production as well as networked audio, interactive media, distribution and program exchange, stage and events, production of hardware and software, research and development, and education and training.

The VDT’s over 2,000 members include sound professionals from the recording production, radio broadcast, film, television, multimedia and theatre industries, as well as representatives from the media, equipment and event industries, research and development, and education.

Visitors and exhibitors can find additional information on registration and regular updates on the status of preparations on the Tonmeister website, here.
