RME ARC USB, Digiface USB out now in the UK

First launched at NAMM 2017, the new ARC USB controller and Digiface USB interface from RME are now available in the UK through Synthax Audio.

The ARC (Advanced Remote Control) USB is an ideal companion to the recently introduced Fireface UFX+ audio interface as well as the company’s TotalMix FX routing and mixing software. It can also work with any RME audio interface that is currently compatible with the latest drivers supporting TotalMix FX – includes interfaces that were released as far back as 2001 – offering intuitive control over the interface’s DSP-based routing and effects section.

Operating as a UAC 1 class device, the new ARC USB can be used with Windows and Mac OS X. As soon as the ARC USB is present in the operating system,TotaIMix FX will automatically detect and communicate with the controller. Any hardware that uses TotalMix FX can be controlled, from a PCI-based Multiface up to the latest Fireface UFX+. The latter includes direct connectivity for both online and stand-alone operation.

The ARC USB features a jog wheel, 15 freely assignable, illuminated buttons, as well as a TS (Tip/Sleeve) connector for a foot switch that can be assigned individually. The RME ARC USB can also control multiple units simultaneously.

The "extremely compact" Digiface USB portable digital audio interface features four optical ADAT/SPDIF I/O and a high-quality analogue line/phones output via TRS for Mac and PC USB 2 devices.

It offers 32 channels of I/O, while the analogue output hosts channels 33 and 34, and can be used freely in conjunction with the included TotalMix software. It is also bus-powered, meaning no external power supply is required for the unit.

Each single optical port on the Digiface USB can use either ADAT optical (up to eight channels) or S/PDIF (stereo). While the inputs adapt automatically to the incoming signal format, the outputs can be individually switched between ADAT and S/PDIF operation.

The interface supports both SMUX and SMUX4; as such, an eight-channel audio stream at 192 kHz can be accommodated via 4 x S/PDIF or ADAT on both the inputs and outputs.
