Sixty Seconds with Chris Dauray, Brand Manager, Rupert Neve Designs

Where are you right now?

At home in east Los Angeles.

What is the last album you listened to?

‘Debussy – Rameau’ by Víkingur Ólafsson.

Describe 2022 so far in one sentence.

It’s improving steadily!

Has the pandemic permanently changed the way you work?

I’ve worked remotely for 11 years now, so no changes there, but I think remotely directing video shoots will definitely stick for me. Not for all shoots of course, but the option of FaceTime / Zooming in for an interview can really simplify things for everyone.

What’s the biggest change to pro audio industry this year?

Supply chain issues / solutions are certainly at top of mind for many. But one change I noticed first-hand: this was the first time I’ve ever attended a Winter NAMM Show without actually having a booth. I certainly wasn’t the only one, and it was an odd experience.

What live event did you miss most over recent years?

This year I specifically missed Andy Shauf at the Walt Disney Concert Hall because the show was cancelled due to illness – really looking forward to that when it’s rescheduled.

What’s the best live event you’ve been to this year and why?

Andrew Bird and Iron & Wine at the Hollywood Bowl. It was my first time at the Bowl this year and it felt so great – strange, but still great – to be back in an audience.

Tell us something you’ve never told anyone else?

My 3.5 year old son knows way more about classic car brands than I do.
