Matthew Fletcher HHB

Sixty seconds with Matthew Fletcher, Head of Sales at HHB

Where are you right now?

At home – it’s a working from home day for me today.

What is the last album you listened to?

Hardcore Will Never Die but You Will by Mogwai – brilliant title – they had a great new album last year but I often go back and listen to their previous albums.

Describe 2022 so far in one sentence.

Dry and hot – the last few months have been at least.

Has the pandemic permanently changed the way you work?

It is largely back to how it was pre-pandemic but a lot of my colleagues work from home one or two days a week now.

What’s the biggest change to pro audio industry this year?

The biggest change this year has probably been getting back to normal with large events, both live music and international sporting competitions having resumed. At HHB we often see an increase in business in the broadcast sector leading up to World Cups and Olympics. With many events rescheduled, they are coming thick and fast now – the Women’s Euros just having finished, the Men’s World cup later this year and Women’s world cup next year – and that is just football (or soccer).

What live event did you miss most over recent years?

Holidays with family and friends were the thing I missed the most, and although I’m more likely to watch on TV from the comfort of my own home, I missed the big festivals – great to see Isle of Wight and Glastonbury on this year.

What’s the best live event you’ve been to this year and why?

Spiritualized at the Roundhouse. It’s always great to see Jason Spaceman and there’s usually something different in instrumentation every time I see them.

Tell us something you’ve never told anyone else?

I’ve just completed a “Sixty seconds with…” interview!
